Wavy Barnes was a sweet little lady. I'm honored to have met her before she went on to be with the Lord. Wavy was all crippled up with arthiritis real bad and was in a wheel chair. But as long as she could she showed up for the Family Reunions each year. A Cripple In my dreams, I can see A beautiful stairway beckoning to me. A man stands there with his hand outstretched saying."Keep on climbing; do your best." I said, "Lord, can't you see I'm a cripple? Won't you please help me?" He said, "No. Not now, But keep on climbing and I'll show you how. I know you are in pain and need my help, But don't give up. Just aim for the last step. "I'll wait here to see how far you can make it without help from me. If you falter or feel heartsore, I'll give you strength to climb just one more. Try to climb one step each day, Then no one can look at you and say, I feel sorry for her. For they don't know the last step is so near; So reach out your hand, Don't let it drop, You've almost made it to the top." The light is getting brighter. It seems I can see The nail-scarred hand held out to me. Although I'm crippled And in such pain, I'll rest awhile, try it again. I'm tired of climbing; I want to go home. I know I'm slow and take my time. There will be no more steps for me to climb. For when I reach the last step And open the door, I won't be a cripple anymore. This is the only picture we have of her.
